Tescott 6th Graders Attend STARBASE

The 6th graders in Mr. Wolting’s science class attended STARBASE every Wednesday for the past 5 weeks.  While at STARBASE the students learned about a wide variety of subjects that are aligned to meet state standards.  The kids participated in hands-on activities based on Newton’s 3 Laws of Motion, Bernoulli’s Principle, the parts of an airplane, the 4 forces of flight, robotics, and setting goals.  The students also enjoyed a tour of K-State Salina and the National Guard facility where they were able to sit in a Blackhawk helicopter and look through night vision goggles.  Several guest speakers were present to discuss many interesting topics, including a satellite conference with a robotics specialist employed by NASA in California.  The students had a wonderful time.  Thank you to the parents and volunteers who helped out with the program.
