Read Across America
March 08, 2010
The Bennington Library celebrated Read Across America Week from March 1-5. Our theme this year was Book A Trip Across the World. Each day the students visited a different place when they came to library. Mrs. Bartlett read a book from the place visited and then students participated in various activities. On Monday the students visited China and then made snakes or participated in chopstick relay races. On Tuesday, the students visited Mexico. We broke piƱatas and ate sopapillas. Wednesday, the students journeyed to Alaska where they had sleeping bag races and constructed dog sleds. Thursday was a safari to Africa. All students made maracas and participated in the limbo. Our final day was spent in Japan. The younger students made parade masks and the older students made origami whales. Each morning classes competed to win the trivia contest and earn bucks for the book fair. It was a great week. Thank you to Mrs. Wolf and all of the classroom teachers for helping to make it so successful!

| 03/08/2010 | My daughter Olivia really enjoyed this week in the library. She couldn't wait to tell me what country she had "visited" that day. I joined Olivia on Friday and I was very impressed! Mrs. Bartlett and Mrs. Wolf did a wonderful job. All the kids were excited to learn about different places around the world. I even had fun. Great Job! |
