Board of Education Meeting Minutes - May 2009

UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 240

Minutes of the meeting of the Board of Education held on May 18, 2009 at the Unified District Office. Those present were Board Members Phil Aumick, Bernie Regnier, Mark Whitesell, Rick Bremerman, Don Weiland, Kelli Webb, and Matt Ehrhart; Administrators Becky Cheney and Craig Gantenbein; Superintendent Richard Harlan, Clerk Cindy Regnier and 7 visitors.

President Matt Ehrhart called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
The agenda for the meeting was adopted. Motion by Mark Whitesell, seconded by Rick Bremerman. Carried with 7-0 vote.
The consent agenda (April 19, 2009 minutes and checks 44246 through 44346 in the amount of $398,159.75) for the meeting was approved. Motion by Don Weiland, seconded by Phil Aumick. Carried with 7-0 vote.
Motion by Don Weiland to accept the proposals as outlined for play areas and sidewalks. Seconded by Kelli Webb. Carried with 7-0 vote.
Motion by Kelli Webb to approve the 2009-2010 attendance of 1 out-of-district student at Bennington Grade School. Seconded by Don Weiland. Carried with 7-0 vote.
Motion by Kelli Webb that the board go into executive session for 30 minutes to discuss personnel. Seconded by Mark Whitesell. Carried 7-0. The board went into executive session at 8:45 pm.

The Board reconvened at 9:15 p.m.
Motion by Kelli Webb that the board extend the executive session for 15 minutes to discuss personnel. Seconded by Mark Whitesell. Carried 7-0. The board went into executive session at 9:15 pm.
The Board reconvened at 9:30 pm.
Motion by Don Weiland to extend the leave days of Cary Wilson for medical reasons. Seconded by Rick Bremerman. Carried with 7-0 vote.
Motion by Rick Bremerman to approve the hiring of Trudy Berthelson as Tescott High School English Instructor. Seconded by Mark Whitesell. Carried with 7-0 vote.
Motion by Bernie Regnier to approve the hiring of Elizabeth Harris as USD 240 Spanish Instructor. Seconded by Rick Bremerman. Carried with 7-0 vote.
Motion by Phil Aumick to accept the resignations of Vicki Schmidt as Bennington library aide effective January 2010 and of Rachelle Swearingen as Bennington Jr. High Track Coach. Seconded by Bernie Regnier. Motion carried 7-0.
Motion by Kelli Webb to not offer a contract to Lisa Inscho as Tescott cook for the 2009-2010 school year as the position will be eliminated due to financial concerns of the district. Seconded by Rick Bremerman. Carried with 7-0 vote.
President Matt Ehrhart adjourned the meeting.
