Getting to know our district
The USD 240, Twin Valley School District’s purpose is to help students gain skills and knowledge necessary to become contributing members of our society. The mission of USD 240 is to challenge all students to become responsible members of society dedicated to lifelong learning in an ever changing world. This will be done through a network of interactions between staff, students, parents, and community.
Twin Valley Schools prides itself on its dedication to serving students and making students our number one priority. We are in a small town setting; Bennington is located just 10 miles north of Salina and is easily assessed by I-35 and K-18. Tescott is located just 16 miles west of Bennington or 22 miles northwest of Salina on K-18. Both towns have small town living but are close to Salina conveniences.
The Twin Valley School District serves approximately 600 students in grades pre-K through 12. The district employs approximately 95 certified and classified staff. The school district provides bus transportation to students who live 2.5 or more miles from school. The food service department has both a breakfast and lunch program providing students with healthy and nutritious meals.
A dedicated Board of Education, administrative team, teaching staff, support staff, parents, and community strengthen the efforts of the Twin Valley School District to provide the best educational opportunities possible for students. There is a high level of student involvement in school activities and we conform to a no-cut policy for our athletic teams. The Twin Valley School District offers pre-kindergarten special education, 4 year old at-risk, all-day Kindergarten, gifted, and at-risk programs as well as counseling, social work, speech therapy, and K-12 special education. We offer a wide variety of athletic and academic extracurricular activities.
The Twin Valley School District strives to stay on the cutting edge of educational trends and technology and seeks to employ staff that is forward thinking and willing to accept the challenges of the 21st century. The District has a 1-to-1 technology initiative in 4th through 12th grade. This initiative allows our technology-focused teachers to educate our students with the latest technology.
The Board of Education has made a commitment to keep class sizes low at the primary grades. Facilities and equipment are continuously upgraded to provide a safe environment conducive to learning. A $6.2 million building addition was completed in 2008. Our updated facilities include classrooms, gymnasiums, and playgrounds.
