Student Enrollment Projections and Capacity
USD 240 will accept all nonresident students who completed the application process following the district's guidelines if capacity exists and if they are not currently suspended or expelled from their current school district. The student must be in good academic standing with the previous district and be a student in good standing per USD 240's criteria to be allowed in the lottery. Based on the projected enrollment and capacity to operate effectively, USD 240 will accept nonresident students as outlined in the capacity table below. Capacity for the 25-26 school year will be approved by the Board of Education in May and posted on the district website by June 1st.
Students living outside of the USD 240 boundary must formally apply for nonresident enrollment and use our application which is available at the link above. Current nonresident students do not need to fill out the application.
Applications will be accepted for the 2025-2026 school year beginning January 1, 2025. Enrollment status will not be determined until the window closes on June 15, 2025, per state statute.
Should more students apply for a grade level than capacity allows, students will be selected through a confidential lottery process and notified of enrollment status by July 15, 2025.
Applications are available on the website or may also be picked up and returned to the USD 240 District Office at 107 N. Nelson, Bennington. All questions about nonresident enrollment shall be directed to Pam Irwin, 785-488-3325, or pirwin@usd240.org.
